Glampsite Details

Alafia River State Park Solar Powered Glampsites- The 16' & 20' luxury canvas bell tents come with screened windows in every panel, and a screen door, plus a vented rain fly and Coolaroo 90 percent shade cloth/covered porch with two indoor/outdoor chairs.  The tents are installed on a ground tarp with a crushed sea-shell pad for excellent drainage and to deter bugs and other critters, and they are surrounded with solar outdoor lights with remote control. Three solar panels and battery system provide power to the tent to run the included fans, lights, and cell phone charging stations.  (There is not enough power for air conditioning, heaters, or other appliances.  AC is not particularly effective in tents because the cotton canvas is made to "breathe" but if you absolutely have to have AC, you are welcome to bring your own portable unit with a generator, but the generator must be turned off by 11 P.M. for quiet hours.)  

You will love the memory foam queen size bed with cooling mattress pad and memory foam pillows, soft linens, and two towels. (Site C, the 20ft tent, comes standard with two memory foam queen beds and four towels.)  Next to the bed are two nightstands with lovely lamps that have built in USB chargers for your phones.  There is also a stylish tinted glass chandelier, comfy throw rugs, storage bench with emergency supplies, towel rack, toy box, and a large cooler.  Be sure to notice all the special decor as well as safety equipment provided such as a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, garbage can, and broom.  Each campsite also includes its own metal fire ring with cooking grate and two outdoor chairs for those starry nights by the campfire. (Site C has two additional benches for seating.) Plus, there is a 12 x 12 shade structure which houses a picnic table and camping cook-station table with a butane burner and coffee drip pitcher as well as a charcoal grill.  The cook-station is well stocked with pots, skillet, mixing bowls, barbeque tools, lighter, marshmallow roasters, lemonade pitcher, salt, pepper, cooking spray, paper towels, foil, and cleaning supplies. Please bring your own charcoal, lighter fluid, paper plates, cups, and silverware. Wood and ice are usually available for purchase at the ranger's station, and snacks are available in the vending machines at the bath house near the playground/bike shop.

For your convenience we also offer several optional add-ons such as single floor mattresses with linens,  indoor portable cassette toilet, extra outdoor folding chairs, fire wood, cooking grade fire-starters, charcoal, butane cans, and even custom decorations for special events like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and graduations. (Call for customized decor quote.)  Three days notice required for all add-ons, subject to availability.

Please note that the 16 ft bell tent can accommodate a maximum of five people (two in the provided queen plus two or three single floor mattress add-ons if desired)  The 20 ft bell tent can accommodate up to 8 people (four in the provided queens plus up to four single floor mattress add-ons.)  Guests are welcome to bring their own secondary pop-up tent but there can be NO MORE than 8 people sleeping at any one sight due to State Park rules; and they can not use the provided solar power for the second tent.  The campsite also limits parking to two cars, (or one car and a second tent,) but free overflow parking is available to the West of the horse barn.  Comfy Camping welcomes well-behaved dogs of any size and breed at no extra charge.  Pets must be leashed at all times and may not be left unattended in a tent.  Comfy Camping has professional dog sitters on staff to assist you if necessary (advanced appointment required.)  All renters are responsible for damage done to the glampsite or equipment during their stay, including but not limited to ripped screens/canvas, broken zippers, missing items.  

Mandatory Cleaning fee $50 per booking for Site A or B, $60 per booking for Site C;  includes laundering all the linens, towels, vacuuming carpets, dusting furniture, sweeping mats, watering plants, cleaning the cooler, picnic table and cooking station, and emptying firepit and grill.  It does not include the washing of dishes, removal of dog waste,  or emptying the trash- as those things must be done by renter to avoid bugs and critters on the glampsite.  Please see check-out sheet in tent for reminders.  If additional cleaning is required due to non-compliance, additional charges will apply.  Any change of linens before check out time will also incur an additional charge (ie. wetting the bed)

portable cassette toilet Rental $50 (for inside tent) per booking (not per night) -  portable cassette toilet comes filled with a separate water chamber for rinsing (light flush,) and 1 roll toilet paper per rental.)  Just leave the used toilet in the tent and our cleaning staff will take care of everything; do not dump yourself.

2 additional portable/folding canvas outdoor camping chairs Rental - $15 per booking (not per night). These can be taken with you to Lithia Springs or for fishing or for extra seating at the site. (2 indoor/outdoor chairs, 2 Adirondack chairs at the firepit come standard with the 16ft bell tent) (2 indoor/outdoor chairs, 2 Adirondack chairs and 2 exterior benches come standard with the 20ft tent.)

Single floor mattress rental  - $35 per booking (not per night) - includes linens: sheets, light blanket, 1 pillow, 1 towel  (includes laundering.) 

Fire Starter (Food Grade)/5 pack Purchase ($10 per pack):  Purchase a 5 pack mix of Sawdust and food grade wax, gives a 15 minute burn time to help start the fire.  (recommended for starting cooking fires)

Bundle of firewood ($15)  

Please note that a small bundle of firewood, which generally burns about 2 hours, can  usually be purchased through the rangers station.  Collection of kindling or wood from the park is prohibited.

Specialty party décor packages $35-$250 (birthday, anniversary, romance, graduation, wedding, picnic, balloons, flowers- call for quote depending on needs.) Please note that party pavilions located near the bath-house can be reserved for an additional fee directly through the park. Comfy Camping does not reserve the pavilions.

ABOUT ALAFIA RIVER STATE PARK

(Please note that some GPS systems may take you to an alternate entrance to the Park.  You want to enter at the main entrance by the Ranger's Station.)  If you will be arriving after 5, the gate code will be emailed to you the day before or the day of your arrival.  Entrance fee is $5 per car for non-Comfy Camping Guests (campers do not have to pay entrance fee.)

Standing out from the relatively flat topography of Central Florida is Alafia River State Park, a reclaimed phosphate mine with some of the most radical elevation changes in the state. This makes it a hot spot for mountain bikers, who traverse the scenic and challenging International Mountain Bike Association trails.

Equestrians and hikers can explore 20 miles of hilly trails through forests and flatwoods, stopping to relax and admire one of the park's pristine lakes.

Canoeing and fishing opportunities are available along the South Prong of the Alafia River with some lakes scattered throughout the park.  There are no canoe rentals in the park, but we recommend Alafia River Canoe Rentals which is about 15 minutes from the park.  Please call them in advance to be sure the river is not too high.  We also send guests to Lithia Springs Conservation Park, also 15 minutes away, for great swimming year round.  The natural spring is always at 72 degrees, so it is a great place to cool off during the summer.  Be sure to call them as well because sometimes reservations are required and times are limited based on season.

Alafia River State Park also offers picnic pavilions, a playground, a full-facility campground, glamping rentals, and a full-service bike shop with bike rentals. (helmets are required in the park.)
